Proposition- Produce a Pandemic Report Card

I'm not certain if anyone has done this or not, yet. A report card that tallies when a pundit, someone either for or against specific public health measures, has been right or wrong in the past.

Why would we want to do this. Well, have you noticed that no matter what scandal/crime is breaking into the news cycle today, it will be forgotten in 2-3 days? Ever wonder why? The same reason that previously disproven theories keep recycling and pundits found to be incorrect can rewrite their own past in real time. No one is keeping score.

The following is a suggestion for that much needed way to keep score and I’d invite assistance from all sides and all opinions. This way the results can be shared with some level of trust. If this project gets any volunteers or involved parties, hopefully they can be paired up with someone off the opposite opinion to work out whatever info they are contributing. Not only will that better hash out the results, but also bridge that ever growing divide by ripping a hole in their respective echo chamber.

First we’ll need to work out-

• What constitutes a pundit,

• What puts them on either side,

• What topics are relevant,

• What qualifies as being being right or wrong on each point,

• Certainly, a number of things I have not thought to add here.

• There is also a high likelihood that it is all more nuanced and there are more than 2 sides

Then present the scores as report cards for each pundit. This will allow easy reference for the veracity/accuracy of any given person and also an overall view of which side is more or less accurate.

I can build and host the website, but would need help from people on both sides to research the people, topics, and positions to be included.

Author’s note- I am personally of the opinion that the last 3 years have been the worst public health catastrophe in human history, but if it turns out the other side’s score is better, I would stand corrected.

It can start out as simply as this (the attached grades are just for the example. I am not rendering judgement on the points.)

• Social Distancing- A

• Lockdowns- F

• Vaccine Efficacy- D

• Vaccine Safety- F

This would, of course, become an extremely large amount of information* over time, but crowdsourced, the basics could be rendered fairly quickly. Simply focus on the large topics and the main players at first.

*Not just individuals, but also organizations such as the WHO and the World Council for Health, the CDC, etc.

PS- What that part of the alphabet would look like with Q and R eliminated. (Yes, it’s an obligatory Mitch Hedberg Joke)

PSS- If anyone has already done this, please share the link. That would be way easier. I do not wish to reinvent the wheel, but if it ain’t rolling yet, someone has to. I don’t see anyone else volunteering to get it rolling.
