First and foremost let me make one overarching statement and I will try to prove it in the following paragraphs-
The US Government has achieved Peak War On Its Own Population. It has nothing left to escalate that assault that will do anything other than accelerate its own loss of power and hasten its inevitable walk to the gallows.
Now back to the titular argument.
The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or personal defense. It was put in place to ensure that the situation we currently find ourselves in, does not become our permanent future. That is the sole purpose of that amendment. It was meant give teeth to something we are supposed to be holding as self evident (Emphasis added)-
Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Bullshit arguments against 2a
You are bringing a gun to a drone fight
This argument states that 2a was intended to allow the citizens to achieve a parity of weapons with the arsenal the government has at present. “Back in the day, everyone had muskets. Now the government has nukes and f-35s. You want to give everyone nukes? F-35s?” Parity is unachievable and therefore 2a is moot.
Bullshit. Way back in 1776 the government had a navy with cannons. 2a was never intended to give naval artillery to private citizens. Parity was never the goal. The elimination of a monopoly on violence was the goal and 2a achieved it nicely.
If a wannabe US despot wants to inflict any more tyranny than they already are, they are going to have to go house by house to inflict it. When it does, each targeted citizen only needs to kill 2 gov agents to have a statistical probability of victory over that despot. If each of us just follows a strategy of Take Two On Your Way Out or TTOYWO (I know that I’m not as good as the Government’s acronym writers, but I do like “Ta Toy? Woah!”) the despot will be denied their ambitions.
But what about the drones and the nukes?
The USGov has been waging a non stop drone war of terror on the world for 20 years now. From their own documentation we know that so far they have achieved an accuracy of 2%. That means that only one 1 in 50 drones hit their intended target. BTW, I should point out that the study they cite to get that 2% success rate has a margin of error of 5%*
They are so bad at using drones they had to make up euphemisms such as “secondary targets” just to propagandize the population into believing that this drone war is anything other than what it is- The most inept Imperial Stormtrooper shooting spree of all time.
The US War of Terror has created millions of enemies who would do anything to hurt this country. If the government attempts those same tactics here, they will have no where left to run.

The hearts and minds must remain inside the bodies of the loved ones of the people you are hoping to make peace with. So, they can’t use drones here.
What about Nukes?
Well, beyond the reasons listed in the previous paragraphs which would hold true for nukes, there is an additional risk to consider. Any nuclear detonation on the planet comes with the risk of triggering the automated nuclear defense systems of other countries, causing them to launch their missiles, the vast majority of which are currently pointed at the US Gov. So, not a particularly good non-suicidal tactic.
They could roll in tanks…
They already did that years ago. By paramilitarizing the local police in every major city, they have effectively rolled in all the tanks they can. Any additional escalation only works against them.
This what I mean by Peak War. No government has ever won a war against any large regional population in the long run. Ours has been engaged in a war on our population for a long time. Eventually they will lose that war. Anything they do now to escalate will just bring about their end that much faster. Doesn’t mean they won’t escalate. It just means it won’t help them.
Other Bullshit Arguments
Public Safety / Public Health
“Guns kill people.” Yes, they do. That is what they were designed to do. Glad we could agree on that.
“Look at all the pain and suffering they cause.” When it reaches a daily kill count higher than the daily kill count reached in nations who surrendered their guns during the 20th Century, we can talk.
“Our Government would never do that to us.“ The Trail of MotherFuckin Tears, my friend. Or if you don’t want to look at the past, just view the current situation in our Northern ally, Canada or our Southern friend, Australia.
Canada was one of the top countries for personal freedom and a whole pile of other wonderful things just 3 short years ago. Now they can’t hang out in groups of 5+ people or 2+ trucks and the leading causes of death are Suicide and Unknown.
As for Down Under, the landscape littered with concentra… I mean quarantine camps, where they are just holding you for your own good? <sarcasm>Things are going great! </sarcasm>
Where do these bullshit arguments come from?
Well… Here is at least one of the sources.
I live in Albuquerque*, New Mexico. It’s arguably the most crime ridden and violent city in the country. Recently our Governor looked at the statistics, the crime reports, and the absolutely insane number of people using guns to commit crimes here. She then thought about it for a sec, decided not to double check on what the US Constitution was or how it applied to her, then created a public health order to take the guns away from the 100 or so people who were not committing crimes. Seems a bit sus if you think about it, doesn’t it?
The highlight of this logically lowbrow, laughably illegal, willfully unlitigated law, leveled on us by our lovely Gov Lujan-Grisham, has been the local law enforcement agencies’ growing rebellion as they explain their intentions for enforcing the order, each slightly more confident in their wording than the last.
Allow me to paraphrase slightly-
Albuquerque Police Department- Thank you, Governor, we’ll let the State cops handle that.
Bernalillo Sheriff- Yeah, we are not going to be doing that.
Farmington Sheriff- Hell no!
San Juan County DA- Bitch, we didn’t follow your last 5 orders. WTF, makes you think we’ll do this?
As of today, she has narrowed the order to parks and playgrounds. I’m assuming tomorrow it will narrow further to only parks with pools and tetherball poles and just outside of the Governors’ Mansion .
*Joking, they never study the effects of their fuck ups.
**Specifically, I live in Alta Monte, where for 5 years running we have outdone the Warzone (The previous crime champion neighborhood) when it comes to crime and violence. So, it is the worst of the worst of the worst neighborhoods to live in. I kinda like it here...
