The US is a fascist country. It just doesn't look like past examples of such. Why would it? The Science of politics progresses. Concepts evolve. Evil learns its lessons.
The U.S. political economy is controlled by a small group of the wealthiest nihilists and is maintained through lies, a military-industrial economy, and perpetual wars around the world to maintain and increase their wealth. It is a death cult that people worship by their participation.
Right on! Nothing makes a progressive go volcanic more than pointing out that the democratic party is fascist too. The US has been fascist at least since the days of the railroads. Disney and Ford loved Hitler. And WW2 wasn't fought to stop fascism, nor was it fought to protect the Jews. It was about protecting liberty and stopping totalitarianism. Hitler was vehemently anti-communist. And when he was defeated, America imported many German scientists and intellectuals via Operation Paperclip and then quickly pivoted to contain communism. To preserve liberty. And to that end what you suggest is essential: get rid of corporate personhood. Pierce the corporate veil and hold accountable the captains of industry who don't prioritize their customers over their stakeholders. The path is clear. Will we follow it? Sorry to say asolutely not.
Our government is owned by multinational corporations. There is zero chance of us becoming a Soviet style communist country. That would require the nationalization of all industry under a single party. We have a uniparty that pretends to be 2 parties in order to sluff off blame for the government's actions on the other guys.
We may not have explicitly written totalitarian laws but we do have the NDAA 2012 allowing for the indefinite detention of anyone, regardless of citizenship and that can and is being used against us by an arbitrary and capricious political elite. https://www.congress.gov/bill/112th-congress/house-bill/1540/text
Without due process or habeas corpus, we are not a free country. We are, in fact, a modern fascist state like I explain in the post you are commenting on.
